With the added chaos of extra visitors around the house, residents need to be aware of this risks and how best to prevent fire damage.
As our picture can attest, a house fire can do a lot of damage in a small time frame.
Tips for avoiding Holiday Fire Damage:
- If you plan on frying a turkey be sure that it is fully thawed before frying.
- Keep the fryer on a flat, level surface, away from any buildings or wood structures.
- Use proper techniques and kitchen tools.
- Never leave the fryer unattended.
- Should a fire break out, prevent fire damage by having a fire extinguisher on hand, do not use water to put out an oil fire.
- Keep an eye on all stovetop-cooked foods.
- Do not leave candles burning unattended.
- Keep hot or flammable objects out of the reach of children.
- Be smart, safe, and have fun!
