Mold growth from Humidity

Depending on where you live in the United States, on top of heat during the summer, you may be experiencing a little bit of humidity. If you’re reading this in Southeastern South Dakota, you are nodding along. In our part of the world, we are very familiar with humidity. As our air conditioning units struggle to keep up with our cooling demands, its important to also focus on other things that may be caused by the humidity.
On a recent estimate for mold, while inspecting an evident mold growth, our technician noticed a small seam in the basement wall of a small home being used as an office. When their is no obvious source of water damage, we believe moisture and humidity are seeping in through the foundation, providing the perfect conditions for mold to grow.
Take the time to inspect the dark and sometimes damp corners of your home. Garages, utility rooms, etc. You may not spend a lot of time in these rooms, but often they may be areas where moisture can be present. If you do find something you would like inspected, please call SERVPRO of Sioux Falls at 605-213-3303!
