Hail Damage

Thankfully, our summer so far has been devoid of any storms that have caused heavy property damage. In a typical summer in South Dakota, you may see thunderstorms, hail, and even tornadoes! Today we would like to talk about hail and the damage it can do to your home.
For those unfamiliar with the phenomenon, hail is formed when droplets of water in the upper atmosphere combine and freeze together. Hail falls from the sky when the updrafts of the thunderstorm can no longer support the weight. The size of hailstones can very from smaller than a marble, up to the size of a softball! If you can imagine someone pelting softballs down at your home from hundreds of feet up in the air, you can start to picture the kind of damage that hail can cost.
Depending on other factors such as wind, hail may fall in a vertical fashion, or it can be buffeted around, falling almost sideways. This can cause the roofing and siding of your home to be stripped, as well as even puncturing holes in the structure of your home. If shingles and siding are stripped away, this can lead to water damage in your home as any rain after a hailstorm could easily get in your home. That’s where SERVPRO of Sioux Falls comes in. Our team is standing by 24/7 to respond to storm damage in the area. If your home was damaged by hail, our team can arrive and provide emergency services such as boarding up damage to prevent further damage to the interior of the home, or water extraction if water was able to get in to your home. When an emergency happens, We’re Here to Help!
