Spring Pipe Leaks

Water damage can strike your Sioux Falls home unexpectedly in the Spring time. One of the things that is a major cause of water damage is the pipe going to a frost free water spigot. If a garden hose is left connected during the freezing months of the year, it can cause the pipe to expand because of the water trapped inside it. This leads to a crack in the pipe. More often then not, when this happens it is not realized until the home owner turns on the spigot in the spring so they can wash their cars or water the lawn. Because the frost free spigot shuts the water off 8-12 inches inside the home, the crack does not receive a fresh flow of water until that spigot is turned on. Once turned on, the result can be massive amounts of water leaking into the home.
